Sharp Fax Machine Review: Simple and Affordable Office
Products
 Sharp
office products have always flown under the radar in the U.S., where companies like Canon,
HP and Brother tend to dominate the industry. But as we’ve
come to expect from Japanese electronics companies, Sharp makes electronics and office
machines that work as advertised and last for years. If you bought a Sharp fax machine in the
90s, it’s a good bet that it’s still working in top form today—although it might be
increasingly difficult to find the ink you need.
Affordable
quality
Even if your old Sharp fax machines are starting to show their age, new models
such as those in the Sharp UX series are just as dependable as the old models, and they’re
incredibly cheap. For example, if all you need is a simple fax machine that does what it’s supposed
to do without all the bells and whistles, then you’re not going to find a better deal than below
$100 for a Sharp UX-B800SE or
a Sharp UXB20 Inkjet Fax Machine .
And it’s not just these modesl—when it comes to sharp fax machines, reviews have been kind.
Everyone who owns a Sharp fax machine loves it.
But for a cheap, no-frills machine, the Sharp UX-B800SE is actually an impressive piece of work
with every 21st-century feature that we’ve come to expect from our fax machines. For example, if
you’re a small business owner who is perpetually on the go, you can set up the machine to
automatically forward all your faxes to your email address. You can also send in the other
direction, using your email account to send faxes from your fax machine number.
Sharp fax machines
features
One of the novel features offered by this fax machine is the ability to type in messages to
send, eliminating the need for paper in many cases. Of course, all you have is a little
40-character LCD display, which makes it kind of hard to keep track of the full document that
you’re typing up, so this feature is best saved for those quick, short messages that you
occasionally need to send. In the end, you may not use the feature very often, but this is no big
loss when it comes attached to such an affordable printer.
Another nice feature is the document feeder. When it comes to simple and affordable fax
machines, document feeders tend to be defective or just not very useful, but this one actually
works pretty well. It feeds about 10 pages per minute, which is a little slower than the industry
standard, but who really needs to fax more than 10 pages in a minute?
But probably my favorite thing about this Sharp fax machine is the inclusion of a telephone
handset. Ever since the decline of fax machines, it’s been hard to justify keeping one around,
especially since they tend to be space-hogs. But when you have your telephone handset integrated
into the fax machine, it can actually save you space. It’s a simple and rather obvious idea, so
it’s surprising that so few fax machine companies have thought of this before.
