Metrofax Review: Proven, Reliable Online
Faxing
Metrofax, based in Washington state, U.S., is one of the older and more well-established online
fax services. The company has been around for a decade and has a tried-and-true service that many
business people simply could not do without. As such, Metrofax offers its customers a proven
service that is both reliable and versatile. Whether you’re an independent businessperson or run a
company with a substantial staff, Metrofax can meet your needs—albeit with a few minor drawbacks.

Metrofax review: How it works
Sending and receiving faxes through Metrofax is almost too easy. To send, all you have to
do is open an email message, attach your fax, type your cover page into the body of the email,
place your recipient’s ten-digit fax number ahead of @metrofax.com in the “To” box, and click send.
Incoming emails automatically go to your email inbox. Meanwhile, Metrofax also has a web platform
through which you can send and receive all your faxes.
When signing up for Metrofax, you’ll receive a unique fax number, or you can set up the service
to use your existing number. Unlike other online fax services, Metrofax can be set up to work with
an unlimited number of email addresses. The downside of this is that you have to pay $2 for each
one.
The types of attachments that can be faxed include Word documents, .rtf files, plain text
documents, Microsoft spreadsheets, Power-point documents, bitmaps, JPEG files, HTML documents, and
.pdf files, among others. What this means is that you don’t have to waste time converting file
formats and dealing with messages that can’t be sent. Metrofax is flexible and rarely sends error
messages of any kind.
Metro fax reviews: The pros and cons of
Metrofax
Some of the pros of using the Metrofax online fax service include:
- For only $12.95, you get 1000 combined inbound and outbound pages, which dwarfs the
offerings of some of Metrofax’s competitors.
- The price for pages that are above the limit is a comparatively small $0.03 per page.
- Metrofax is a customer service-oriented company with several different easily accessible
options for getting help.
- The email-based method for sending and receiving is as easy as it gets, and the online
interface is straightforward and easy to use.
- Metrofax does not charge per-minute rates.
- The service will continue trying to send your fax until it gets through.
There are also a few cons, including:
- There is a start-up fee of $9.95. Most online fax services don’t have a startup fee at
all.
- You do get a free trial month, but you have to pay for a month before you get the free
trial.
- You can add an unlimited number of email addresses, but it costs $2 per email address.
All in all, Metrofax is one of the best online fax companies, with years of reliable service and
thousands of happy customers from around the world. While their costs are a little higher than
those of some of the other online fax companies, you do get what you pay for—and Metrofax has some
of the best service capabilities and customer service in the world of online faxing.
