RapidFax Review: Straightforward Online
Faxing
When it comes to faxing over the internet, the two most important factors are ease-of-use and
security.
We want our faxing to be fully integrated with our everyday business activities, and we don’t
want to have to fumble around with some complicated software suite just to send a simple fax.
Meanwhile, since security is often a concern with faxing, we want to work with online fax companies
that we can trust, which means having transparency as well as strong customer service.
RapidFax is not as transparent as some of the other online fax companies; for example,
their website doesn’t give any indication of where the company is based, and their packages do
contain some hidden fees that aren’t immediately apparent on the signup screen. However, the main
advantage of Rapid Fax is that they are one of the easiest online fax services to use.
RapidFax Review: How RapidFax
Works
With Rapid Fax, there are two ways to send and receive faxes—through your email, or through the
RapidFax website. For email faxes, the company gives you a toll-free number and allows you to
associate it with two email addresses.
Sending faxes is simple. All you have to do is put the recipient’s phone number in front of
@rapidfax.com, place the fax content in the body of the email, and press Send. Your fax will be
sent immediately, and you’ll receive a confirmation email to inform you that the fax has been
delivered. Receiving faxes is just as easy. When faxes are sent to your fax number, RapidFax will
immediately convert it into a .pdf file and send it to your email inbox.
You can also send and receive faxes through the RapidFax website simply by logging on with your
username and password and clicking on the “Fax To” icon (for sending) or your inbox (for
receiving).
RapidFax Review: Pros and
Cons
The pros of using RapidFax include:
- There is no startup fee.
- All users get a 30-day free trial.
- The service can be fully integrated with Outlook, which makes it extremely easy to
use.
- The price is in line with industry standards.
- The overage charges are relatively small.
- Customer service is easily accessible and knowledgeable.
- The product is straightforward with no significant learning curve.
The cons include:
- Each account may only be associated with two email addresses, which makes it difficult if
you run a small business with more than two employees.
- Customer service, while helpful when you can get ahold of them, is hard to reach. The
online form for customer service questions is not sufficient, and the phone number takes you to
an automated message.
- There are hidden fees. When you store faxes online for over 30 days, you will have to pay
extra. This information is disclosed on the website, but not clearly enough.
If you can get past these relatively minor negative points—which shouldn’t make a big difference
for most users—then Rapid Fax is a good choice for online faxing.
